Don't Be Scared of Chemical Peels!

What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels are composed of chemical solutions that are designed to remove the top-most outer layers of the skin (stratum corneum) so that new, regenerated skin replaces the old. They can improve uneven skin tones related to age spots, acne scarring, excessive oil and breakouts, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, poor circulation and skin laxity (loose skin).

Chemical peels are classified as light to deep. The depth and strength of the peel depends on the type of acid as well as the pH balance. The deeper the peel, the more profound the results and the longer the recovery time.

Differences in Light to Deep Chemical Peels:

We love Sanitas products, especially their peels because of all the different options and strengths. There is a peel for any issue and skin type. Here are the different peels and a bit about their benefits.

Sanitas Light Chemical Peels:

The Lactic Acid Peel Mask- This is great for a first time peel or those that want the glow and radiance of a peel without visible peeling. This has no downtime with only a slight chance for any mild irritation. You will notice softness, tightness, and improved skin tone. This peel can help with skin texture, pigmentation, and mild acne and is best when done in a series of 3-6 treatments, 1 every 2-4 weeks.

Sanitas Medium Chemical Peels:

The Alpha 20% and 30% or Beta 17% Peels- They are both great for Anti-aging, stimulating collagen, minimizing pores and blemishes, detoxifying, and softening the skin. Clients typically see flaking or peeling happening in 4-5 days after the treatment and the peeling typically last 3-4 days. This peel can help with skin texture, pigmentation, and acne and is best when done in a series of 3-6 treatments, 1 every 2-4 weeks.

-The Alpha is particularly effective for fine lines and wrinkles.

-The Beta is particularly effective for acne, oily or pigmented skin and improves and helps speed healing of acne.

Sanitas Deep Chemical Peels:

The TCA 10% and Jessner’s Peels- Both of these peels are done in multiple layers over the skin and both stay on the skin and soak in (rather than being washed off). There is typically a 7-10 day recover with noticeable peeling starting between 2-4 days after the treatment.

-The TCA 10% Peel is idea for reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and sun damaged skin. It also improves the texture of the skin. Flaking and or peeling can occur. This is also a great peel for hands and décolleté.

-The Jessner’s Peel is for rapid deep exfoliation and is ideal for aged, acne or hyperpigmented skin. This peel can be done in up to 7 layers (determined by the skins reaction). Expect skin to peel for 1-2 weeks.
